Officials move some inmates after smoke reported at Travis County Jail

Several inmates were moved from one building to another at the Travis County Correctional Complex in Del Valle on Tuesday evening after jail officials reported seeing smoke in a section of the building, Travis County fire officials said.

Fire officials received the call around 5:50 p.m. Firefighters did not discover any fire or smoke when they arrived, said Chief Ken Bailey, the fire chief of Emergency Service District 11.

Officials decided to move inmates as a precaution, Bailey said.
