Oregon has a promising quarterback in sophomore Justin Herbert, but the Ducks are even more excited about who just signed with them.
Tyler Shough, a 4-star quarterback from Chandler, Ariz., put pen to paper during the December early signing period, officially joining the Ducks on Wednesday. Oregon’s fanbase is rightfully ecstatic about the haul. Pac-12 Network’s Yogi Roth fanned the flames of the excitement blaze, calling the quarterback one of his favorite Elite 11 participants of all-time.
"He's going to be the prototype for when young student athletes who say 'I want to be like somebody'… We're going to show them @tylershough2."

Roth compared the 6-foot-4 1/2, 187-pound Shough to former Cal quarterback and No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff, who’s now quarterbacking one of the NFL’s top offenses with the Los Angeles Rams. Elite 11 head scout Joey Roberts called Shough “truly one of the best prospects in this class.”
“He looks a lot like our current guy,” Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal said of Shough on Wednesday, via 247Sports’ Matt Prehm. “I think you guys know him pretty well.
“He had offers from the Alabamas down to Florida State and Georgia. Our staff did a great job of identifying him, particularly Marcus Arroyo. When he set foot on campus he fell in love with the university. We look forward to him being a staple for us and our program for a long time.”
Per Skopil, Shough (composite rating of .9444) is the 4th-highest-rated quarterback to ever sign with the Ducks, falling in line behind Kellen Clemens, Dennis Dixon and Travis Jonsen. Herbert landed at No. 14 on that list, while former Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota was 12th.
